Famous Amos

Famous Amos was founded in 1975 by Wally Amos, the first Black talent agent at the William Morris Agency, who turned a family chocolate chip cookie recipe into one of America’s most iconic snack food brands. Opening his first store on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood with backing from Marvin Gaye and Helen Reddy, Amos built a brand celebrated for its bite-sized, premium-quality cookies at a time when bigger was considered better. Today Famous Amos is owned by Ferrero, the global confectionery group behind Nutella and Ferrero Rocher, and is sold in grocery stores worldwide.

Commissioned by Ferrero to create a new premium tier for Famous Amos, CPG packaging design work centered on celebrating the brand’s commitment to globally sourced, indulgent ingredients, the design concept introduces each new flavor joining the original chocolate chip through friendly, illustrative packaging that maps the culinary journey undertaken to discover each ingredient and its place of origin. The result is a cohesive, premium packaging system that honors the warmth and character of the Famous Amos brand while bringing a new level of craft and storytelling to the shelf.
