Markus Klinko 21

Markus Klinko is one of the defining celebrity photographers of the 21st century, a Swiss-born, Los Angeles-based photographer and self-described documentarian of pop culture whose work spans album covers, magazine editorial, and advertising campaigns. A former EMI Classics concert harpist who turned to photography after a career-ending hand injury, Klinko has photographed Beyoncé, David Bowie, Lady Gaga, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Mariah Carey, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Naomi Campbell, and Iman, among many others. His work is held in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C., and has been exhibited at Lincoln Center in New York and in galleries worldwide.

Markus Klinko 21 is a signed, dated, and numbered limited edition of 100 collector boxes, each containing 21 original art prints spanning 2000 to 2021, representing a chronological archive of the era’s most iconic figures in music, film, and fashion. de.MO was commissioned to design the collector box, luxury limited edition packaging design conceived to function as both archive and gallery object. We created a transparent plexiglass display box lit from below, allowing the prints to stand as a self-contained, illuminated gallery that collectors can curate and rotate at will. This project is displayed here for design purposes and is not available for sale.
